Who We Are

AiOra is a 100% natural New Zealand supplement brand, produced by Waitaki Biosciences - Aotearoa’s most established natural nutraceutical manufacturer.

Since 1987, Waitaki Biosciences has supplied natural ingredients to leading global brands. Today, we are paring down the miles and delivering those ingredients directly to you.

We are a local, passionate team including scientists and nutrition experts based in the beautiful Ōtautahi / Christchurch.

The Meaning of AiOra

As a multicultural business we care about people, the earth and the many health benefits that come when working with nature. We are inspired by cultural nutritional wisdom from around the world and we respect and take inspiration from the abundance of natural resources in Aotearoa.

Our name celebrates this inspiration, it represents who we are and what we want for our customers - to love life. It brings together concepts from Mandarin and te reo Māori - Ai meaning Love and Ora meaning Life.

New Zealand's Purest Supplements

Nutrition is at the heart of a healthy life. Improving people’s lives, and doing it the right way is what gets us up in the morning.

Our scientists and nutritionists know that people aren’t designed to absorb nutrients from synthetic ingredients. So we provide you with the most nutritional, natural ingredients that our bodies are experts at processing. That means a supplement that’s as close to food as possible.

Sustainability

In 2010 Waitaki Biosciences adopted the CEMARS programme, now known as Toitū Carbonreduce, to lower our environmental impact. Our team is committed to operating as an environmentally responsible company through waste reduction and recycling, energy savings and GHG emission reduction.

We have been working with Toitū Envirocare to progressively reduce our overall environmental impact through a managed monitoring programme. This has been integrated into our existing Quality Management Programme. We acknowledge what we do will have an impact on the environment – and we strive to do better, which is why we have been working with Toitū.

Introducing biodiesel from GreenFuels was a move towards a more sustainable future for our business. We’ve replaced diesel with a more sustainable biodiesel option, which is made in Christchurch from 100% recycled vegetable oil. Our team is also committed to investing in plant equipment that is more eco-friendly.

Recycling and Waste Reduction

We’ve been working on waste reduction through our in-house recycling programme, with cardboard and plastic separated on site and recycled.

Our chemical containers are collected or dropped off to facilities that recycle them. The by-products that come as a result of our production operation currently are either repurposed for another use or composted off-site. We are always looking at ways we can turn these into usable products to prevent waste.

Water is another area of focus for us, with work underway on how we can recycle this precious resource to lower the amount we need to use during the manufacturing process.
